Az ISO 639 nyelvkódokat definiáló rövidítések szabványainak csoportja, melyet az Nemzetközi Szabványhivatal publikál. Eredetileg ez volt magának a szabványnak is a neve, amit 1967-ben hagytak jóvá és 2002-ben vontak vissza.

Jelenleg két elfogadott szabvány tartozik ide, a kétbetűs kódokat tartalmazó ISO 639-1 és a hárombetűs kódokból álló ISO 639-2. A szintén hárombetűs ISO 639-3 a végső elfogadási fázisban (FDIS) van; az általános irányelveket tartalmazó ISO 639-4, a nyelvcsaládokat leíró ISO 639-5 és a nyelvváltozatokat leíró ISO 639-6 pedig kidolgozás alatt van.
